Home · Case studies · JLG wilful default and UCO gold loan corrected
Trust, twice: a wrongful "wilful default," then a stranger's gold loan.
By Vaidhehi P, Sr. Credit Analyst, Kenstone Credit.
Background
Ms. Shravanya, from Bellary, first came to Kenstone when she was struggling to get a loan from State Bank of India. Her credit report showed a JLG Individual loan from L&T Finance as a wilful default, even though the loan had already been cleared. Because of that one incorrect status, her application kept getting rejected. She was referred to us by the SBI branch manager himself.
The first engagement
A wilful default is the heaviest remark a report can carry, and hers was simply wrong: the loan was cleared. I reviewed her report, verified the closure, and raised disputes with the credit bureaus while communicating directly with the concerned bank to correct the reporting. After the required follow-ups, the wilful default status was corrected, and her report finally allowed her to proceed with her plans.
The second engagement
A few months later, Shravanya came back, with a different set of problems. Her report now showed a UCO Bank gold loan that did not belong to her at all, and her Date of Birth was wrong in the bureau records. I analysed the report and confirmed the gold loan was not associated with her, raised disputes with the bureaus, contacted the concerned bank for verification, and simultaneously requested correction of her Date of Birth in the bureau records.
The result
Why this case matters
When Shravanya says on video that we gave her trust "not for once, but twice," this is what she means, two separate engagements, two different kinds of errors, both corrected. A report can be wrong in more than one way at more than one time: a false wilful default one year, a stranger's gold loan and a wrong birth date the next. What matters is that each error is disputable with evidence, and that the client knows exactly where to come back to. Published with the client's written consent.
